Limestone Books opened at the end of September 2019. Owner/bookseller Tanya, was inspired to open the shop by seeing fantastic independent bookshops in other towns, and through a desire to share her life-long love of books.

Tanya, who moved to the Dales from Cambridge eight years ago, believes that a good bookshop is so much more than just a shop – it’s a part of the community. And that’s what she’s working hard on turning Limestone Books into.

During lockdown the shop has still been operating. Orders have been taken over the telephone, via email and Facebook, and Tanya has been delivering to local customers for free.

Post-lockdown, Tanya’s keen to get things back up and running, whilst keeping all of her customers safe. She’s installed a screen around her pay-point, will be providing hand sanitiser on entry, will be limiting the number of customers allowed into the shop, will be offering contactless payments, and she will be wearing a face guard when away from the till. If anybody would prefer to shop alone, or would like to shop with their family, she can also offer private appointments outside of normal opening hours.
