Limestone Books opened at the end of September 2019. Owner/bookseller Tanya, was inspired to open the shop by seeing fantastic independent bookshops in other towns, and through a desire to share her life-long love of books.

Tanya, who moved to the Dales from Cambridge eight years ago, believes that a good bookshop is so much more than just a shop – it’s a part of the community. And that’s what she’s working hard on turning Limestone Books into.

During lockdown the shop was still able to operate. Orders were taken over the telephone, via email and Facebook, and Tanya was able to deliver to local customers for free. Other orders were posted.

Post-lockdown, Tanya’s been keen to get things back up and running, whilst keeping all of her customers safe. Like most shops, she’s installed a screen around her pay-point, hand sanitiser is provided on entry, limited numbers of customers are allowed into the shop, and contactless payments are encouraged. She even has spare face-masks available for anyone who has forgotten theirs.

Although live events and signings are on hold for now, this is something Tanya will re-instate as soon as possible. Keep your eyes on the events page of this website for further details.
