Mike Hartley, Ultra Runner – book launch and signing

Local fell running legend, Mike Hartley, will be joining us to launch his book ‘From One Extreme to the Other’ on Friday the 14th of July. Mike will give a short talk at 10.30am, and then be here to have informal chats and sign books until 12.30pm. More info on the book below:

Behind every successful athlete is a dreamer. Mike’s dream was to achieve the ultimate physical and mental state: an effortless and serene application of energy. He turned his dreams into records, and some of those records remained unsurpassed for over thirty years. This book tells the story of his journey from aspiring schoolboy to international ultra runner. On the way, he set records for the 270 mile Pennine Way, the 190 mile Coast to Coast, and the Ultimate Ultra, a continuous run over the three British twenty four hour mountain circuits totalling 183 miles and 83,000ft of ascent – a feat regraded as impossible, and a dream edging into nightmare.
